WHAT IS MY PURPOSE?

Do you every ask yourself questions such as:

"Why am I here? "What's my purpose in life?" "What's the point of all this?"

Well I spent a great deal of time trying to figure out the answers to these questions. Looking, searching, striving.

While trying to figure it out, I started to meditate and create stillness within myself. The deeper I breathed, the more I noticed the gap, the space, the void between each breath. I started to connect with all that is within me, the darkness and the light. Stuff came up to the surface, thoughts and memories that were from ages ago. Instead of buying into questions such as "Why?" "What's the point of this?" I allowed. I breathed deeper into each feeling.

I made meditation a habit and spent at least 15 mins with myself everyday but the search for my purpose still continued.

Until it dawned on me, in a quiet moment of stillness, that each moment is the purpose of life. Each moment I wake, sleep, eat, drive, work, socialize, wash dishes and clean are what I'm DOING to contribute to this purpose. But the purpose of life, is right now, each moment as it unfolds. It's our actions and what we chose to do in each of these moments that gives meaning to our purpose.

The purpose was always there. It's life, as it is today. So what I was really looking for was meaning. How can I, Sanya, who has been given this physical body as a vehicle to take me from place to place, add meaning to each moment. What can I do? How can I contribute?

That's when everything changed. I stopped searching and started to look for ways to add meaning to my purpose (life).

I was no longer confused. Everything was clearer.

Each moment, I am given the opportunity to add meaning and contribute to life. And only once I had that understanding, I truly understood the meaning of the overused metaphor of "Life is your canvas and you hold the paint brush".

With love,

Sanya
