THE MAGNIFICENCE OF LIFE COACHING

This morning, after completing the 17th session with a client, I was reminded about the fluidity and magnificence of life coaching. When I first started coaching at the start of 2018, I felt completely lost. Sure, I’d completed a course in life coaching, but that experience alone was far from the real thing. Actually being on a call, or facing a client and helping them navigate through their life felt completely different from learning about it in a book or practicing with a friend. As you can imagine, there was a lot of trial and error involved.  I would experience jitters and nervousness before the start of each session (and still do!). Except now the nervousness isn’t about my ability as a coach (although that feeling does arise from time to time), it’s about the world of possibilities that become available to my clients as soon as we start our session. It’s exciting to see my clients perceive their life in a new way, and let go of the stuff that isn’t serving them anymore.

I lead each session with humility,  keeping in mind that I am both, a student and a teacher at the same time. Each session for me is a coming together of two souls, and as a coach, it is my honour to create an intentional space where my clients transform, grow and bring awareness to the barriers that are stopping them from living the life of their dreams.

In my sessions, I see myself as a faucet through which the universe expresses itself. The universe speaks through me and gives my clients the exact message, questions, and inquiry they need at that point in time. No matter what the issue may be, I’m always in an open space. I’ve learnt that the time we spend together is never about me. I recognize myself in each of my clients (that’s how they found me after all), but the hour we spend together is never about how I, SANYA handle things, or what I’ve done to overcome a problem. It’s about the client, or about YOU, the person reading this. You have all the answers. And always did. We’re lucky to be living in a world where we have access to so many resources such as coaches, mentors, books, podcasts, and videos to inspire ourselves to take action. Sometimes these resources help us change our perspective, and other times they ignite the fire within and encourage us to take action. Seeing my clients change their perspective and view their obstacles as opportunities is an immensely satisfying experience for me.. The very act of observing something in a particular way has the power to change it. Beauty IS after all, in the eye of the beholder.

So why is coaching so magnificent? Well, the short answer is, it’s because of what YOU, the client brings to the table (a sense of openness, curiosity and wonder) and what your coach brings (life experience, patience, non-judgement, safety and honesty). When two people show up with an open mind and a willingness to learn, coaching becomes effortless and transformation is the natural outcome. The best way for me to tell you about the magnificence of coaching would be to give you actual examples of what my clients have achieved, overcome and gained awareness of during our time together:

  • Throughout the process , they’ve discovered their magnificence. Connecting with a power bigger than themselves,  my clients are now able to truly see their relation to the whole. This has resulted in visibly higher self-esteem and  confidence levels.

  • They’ve become aware of their inner critic.  Their sessions with me have assisted them in developing a greater sense of awareness every time they’re being critical of themselves, and as a result, they now replace  thoughts of self-criticism with more loving thoughts. The outcome? More self-love!

  • Awareness of their boundaries – The simple act of becoming aware of their boundaries means that they only say YES when they mean it, and have no problem saying “No” to people, places and things that don’t feel right. The result – they show up more authentically in their relationships and in turn give other people permission to strengthen their own boundaries!

  • Being at peace with their past – Coaching has helped  my clients recontextualize past experiences and helped them understand how these experiences are shaping their current reality.  They’re more present, have stopped ruminating and are naturally able to let go of things they have no control over.

  • A sense of Clarity – Are you familiar with that sinking feeling of being stuck in  limbo? Where you know you want to move forward but something seems to be holding you back. That something is in fact, an aspect inside  you!. Through coaching, we break each problem down into small digestible chunks. The very act of doing this has brought them a sense of clarity. By breaking everything down, we’re able to assess all aspects of the problem. Clarity comes from addressing and acknowledging absolutely everything. The result? They were able to take action without hesitation.

  • Transforming limiting beliefs and actually believing that THEY’RE ENOUGH. This one was crazy, once we started to work on those limiting beliefs, they realized how irrational the thought “I’m not good enough” really is. The result? Their world changed! Imagine walking around KNOWING that you deserve all the good in your life.

The MOST magnificent part about coaching? In each coaching relationship, I’m NOT asking my clients to refrain from  screwing up, be critical or judgmental towards themselves. What I’m asking instead is to experience those screw ups differently. To meet those screw ups with a different vibe and energy.

I invite you to take your first steps towards uncovering your inner magnificence.
